At Starz Ballet, we go beyond the traditional ballet class experience. Our comprehensive syllabus is designed to cater to children at different developmental stages within each class. We prioritize not only the children’s learning but also ensure the comfort of parents. Our Ballet Classes are thoughtfully curated to match the children’s abilities at their respective ages, fostering their ballet skills at their own pace. Parents can actively participate by dancing with their children or observing their progress. We also extend our care to adults, offering a relaxing break with hot beverages and providing toys for children to engage with and forge new ballet friendships.
Welcome to Starz Ballet, where the enchanting world of dance comes alive for children of all ages. With a legacy spanning over 14 years, our journey has been fueled by a passion for movement and a commitment to nurturing young dancers’ growth. Our classes go beyond traditional ballet, embracing the magic of imagination and the power of movement. Rooted in a well-developed syllabus, meticulously crafted with insights from professional dancers, qualified ballet teachers, Nursery & Pre-School practitioners, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers from Infant and Junior schools, PE Specialists, physiotherapists, child psychologists, and school Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), our approach is holistic and comprehensive. From our Non-Walkers Class, fostering early bonds between babies and parents, to our Independent Ballet Classes that empower young dancers, every step is guided by expertise and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of dance. Join us on this captivating journey, where each movement tells a story and every dancer shines with their unique light.
Bebe & Beau, our beloved Starz Ballet Bunny class mascots, add an enchanting touch to our world of dance. From gracing our shows to lighting up school fetes and community events, these fluffy, cuddly characters are favorites among our dancers. Dancing alongside Bebe & Beau is a delight, as they’re not only charming but also love meeting everyone. Through class visits and interactions, we ensure that every dancer develops a deep affection for them, just as we have!
The non-walker's class is designed to introduce babies and toddlers to music and rhythm, as well as give them a feel of independent movement before they can execute those moves by themselves. It is ideal from when your baby can support their own head for extended periods (around 6 months) until they are confidently cruising. It is a lovely bonding experience between mum and baby and a wonderful way to spend an hour out of a busy day. We use lots of sensory props, such as wings for imagination exercises, wands, scarves, shakers, beanbags for balancing, and pompoms, to engage the babies and always get lots of giggles from this class.
“This class offers so much more than ballet! I have been taking Emily for 6 weeks and look forward to our special hour each week; Starz Ballet offers a special one-to-one, tactile time with her which is different from the other baby classes we attend. I have highly recommended this class to all my mummy friends because I know they will love it! I am so pleased I have been available for this before returning to work.” - Carly Mackie (Emily & Chloe’s mummy)
This class is suitable for all children from 6 months to 6 years. This is a great class if you are looking to have siblings in a class together. The syllabus requires the child’s parent/carer to join in with the class and assist them in executing the moves as per the teacher's instruction. We use lots of props, such as wings for imagination exercises, wands, scarves, shakers, beanbags for balancing, and pompoms to keep them engaged and to assist with learning to wait their turn, make choices, and coordination. It is quite amazing what a 2-year-old is capable of! We pride ourselves on teaching ballet moves using correct technique from the very beginning, all while having fun and celebrating the magic of movement.
This class is also specifically designed for children over 3 years, though we tend to find more parents book their children onto the course nearer to their 4th birthday in readiness for starting school. It runs for 45 minutes and is fully Independent, with parents out of the classroom while still being within the venue. We have learned that by this age, the children are becoming more self-aware and respond better to their teacher without an audience. In addition to using props, such as wings for imagination exercises, wands, scarves, shakers, beanbags for balancing, and pompoms, we are now starting to use correct Ballet terms, ie 1st position with the feet rather than ‘smiley face feet’ and we focus more on technique, space awareness, balance, etc.
Supporting schools to achieve their Key Stage 1 dance, Starz Ballet® After School Clubs are extremely popular and remain a fun learning experience for our pupils. Children attend from Year R, Year 1, and Year 2. Following a structured lesson plan packed full of variety encourages constant learning and progression. Our sensory props, such as wings for imagination exercises, wands, scarves, shakers, beanbags for balancing, and pompoms, continue to be a valuable part of our dance classes, stimulating creativity and enhancing the learning journey. Parents are invited to watch the last class of the term when the children are also awarded their Starz Certificates of Achievement.
